The Hills and Mt Washington Valley are Alive with the Sound of Music

From concerts to plays to classical musical performances  and live entertainment, applause echoes throughout Mt Washington Valley this summer

North Conway, NH – Summer time in Mt Washington Valley conjures up images of swimming in water holes, golf, visits to family attractions, tubing along the river, romantic dinners on porches, decks and by candlelight, along with ice cream, s’mores and great hikes.  And while all of this is high on the list, summer also invokes memories of outdoor concerts and live performances in Mt Washington Valley.  The Valley is alive with the sound of music and drama throughout the summer.  From live performances at restaurants and taverns to musicals and plays at theaters and concerts both inside and out, you won’t believe the amazing array of options for live performances for the whole family this summer. 


Arts Jubilee: Since 1983 Arts Jubilee has been bringing exciting musical entertainment to the residents and visitors of the Mt. Washington Valley. The 2018  schedule includes concerts on consecutive Thursdays through August 14. Bring a blanket or chairs to the outdoor concerts at Cranmore Mountain Resort and enjoy an early concert at 6:00pm. Main Concerts are 7:00pm. Family-friendly admission at $12 per person; Seniors: $10. Students: $5  and Kids 12 and under are free!  Upcoming concerts include:

Medallion Opera House: Located in the town of Gorham, this newly renovated multi-functional community theater/auditorium is located at Gorham Town Hall (built in 1918), which re-opened in May of 2011.  Home to many wonderful performances, Mt Washington Valley’s own Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio will perform at the Medallion Opera on Thursday, August 9 at 7:00pm., with special guest, Carlos Angeles Olmeda.  Tickets are $12 and will be available at the Gorham Town Hall, at the door and online at In addition, on August 6th, in celebration of summer song, Poet, Balladeer, and former Portsmouth Poet Laureate, John Perrault will present a program of traditional and original Ballads along with New England story songs at the Medallion Opera House, at 7 pm.  Drawing from a repertoire that ranges from “Bonnie Barbara Allen,” to the Maine woods song, “Canada-I-O,” to “St. James Infirmary,” John follows the evolution of the traditional ballad from the mountains and moors of the British Isles to the Southern Mountains and Northern border of North America.  Tickets are free.

Mountain Top Music Center: Mountain Top Music Center is a community music school located in Conway, NH with a mission to enrich lives and build community by providing inspiring music education and by offering performance and listening opportunities throughout the area. Mountain Top Music Center presents a variety of concerts bringing the work of its students, community ensembles, and faculty to the community. Their concert series include:

  • Mountain Top Home Concerts, a wonderful intimate concert experience with talented professional musicians from far and wide in various private homes. All concerts include an informal reception with refreshments after the show. Tickets are generally $35.
  • Mountain Top Public Concerts take place in venues around the Mount Washington Valley, and feature both Mountain Top faculty and musicians from other areas. Ticket prices vary.
  • First Friday Concert Series takes place from noon to 1:00 pm on the First Friday of each month at the Brown Church in Conway Village. First Friday concerts generally feature performances by Mt Top faculty and friends. The concerts are free, but donations to support the renovation of the Majestic are gratefully accepted.

M&D Productions: This intimate 76 seat black box theatre affords the audience the opportunity to immerse themselves in the environment of every show, fully sharing in the theatrical experience. With over 20 NH Theatre Awards, and the NETC Award for Excellence in the American Theatre, M&D has brought community theater productions from comedy to drama to the Mt Washington Valley.  Playing Thurs – Sun, August 2 – Aug 19th, M&D Playhouse presents August: Osage County by Tracy Letts, a drama about a midwestern family.   Info:

Theater at Hundred Acre Wood: This unique performance space is situated within the 100 Acre Wood in Intervale with privacy and beautiful views. The 150-300 seat theater is a year-round performing arts facility for entertainment, education, and as a gathering place for non-profit groups and others in the community, operated by the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation. Throughout the rest of July through August 23, enjoy live children’s theater performances each Friday from 10:00-11:00pm. Presented by Jean's Playhouse and IMPACT Children's Theatre, these original plays with unique songs present a new twist on classic tales including favorite characters such as Pippi Longstocking, Little Bo Peep, Peter Rabbit, and more. Stone Mountain Arts Center: This beautiful timber frame hall is tucked in Brownfield, Maine, hosting national acts like Robert Cray, Los Lobos and Madeleine Peyroux. Serving dinner prior to select performances, Stone Mountain Arts Center attracts popular singers and performers.  Fine wines and craft beers available too. Some of the upcoming concerts include:

Leura Eastman Performing Arts Center at Fryeburg Academy: The 380-seat theater hosts several professional performers throughout the year, in addition to the school's award-winning music and theater department productions. Upcoming performances include The Corvettes Doo Wop Revue  on September 22 at 7:30pm. The band's incredibly entertaining show and comical stage antics have left many a happy audience screaming for more. Tickets are $20-Adults, $15-Seniors, $5-Students. Jeanne Limmer Dance Center: Now in its 32nd year, Jeanne Limmer Dance Center offers classes for all ages and levels, preschool through adult, in the various styles and techniques of dance including: Modern, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Preschool Creative Movement, Hip-Hop, Contemporary. Arts in Motion at Eastern Slope Playhouse: Join this wonderful theater company  for live performances,  music, art, entertainment, children’s programming, and more. Bringing drama and musicals to the Eastern Slope Playhouse for 25 years, Arts in Motion has been providing hilarious adventure aboard the Conway Scenic Railroad with their entertaining Murder Mystery Dinner Theater performances for six seasons. July 28: An Evening with Spirit: Renowned psychic mediums Sara Moore of Enlightened Horizons & Kathleen Stone will host an evening of connecting with spirits.  The night will certainly have laughs, probably some tears, and will leave you with peace in your heart and validation that spirits are trying to send us messages all the time. Doors open at 6:30pm (cash bar). Wednesday Night Settlers Crossing Music Series: This acoustic music series takes place on the Starbucks Patio at Settlers Crossing in North Conway on Wednesdays, now through August 22, 2018. Local artists from New Hampshire and Maine are featured in a two-hour set from 4-6 p.m.  This is a fair-weather event. Music is not rescheduled in the event of rain. Here’s what’s coming up:

Saturdays: Mountainside Summer Music Series at Attitash Mountain Resort: This is the 6th season of the Mountainside Summer Music Series sponsored by Bud Light. August 23, 24, 25:  30th Annual Bach Festival: This 3-day festival featuring

Tuesdays through August 21: Free Movies on the Green at Settlers Green: Yard games, face painting, weekly special guests and music begin at 6:00pm. Tuesdays: Mt Washington Valley Band at the Gazebo: Tuesdays, through the end of July, enjoy brass band music from the Mt. Washington Valley Band. 6:00-8:00pm, weather permitting, at the Gazebo at North Conway Community Center.  Concerts are free.

August 4: Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce celebrates the 15th FREE Covered Bridge Dance & Block Party:  Jon Sarty and the White Mountain Boys, a local favorite, will get the party started at 7:30 PM - 10:30pm. Tables and seating are on a first come, first get basis.  Food available too. This Jackson Community Event is FREE thanks to local  sponsors. Info: 

August 5: North Conway Firefighters Association Benefit Concert: Nashville Recording Artist, Tom Dixon: Starting life as just a small-town boy, Tom Dixon has become one of Nashville's rising stars, taking his explosive live show on the road and entertaining crowds everywhere he goes.  Gates open at 6:00pm, with the concert at 7:00pm.  Food & beverage will be available on Zip's deck.  Admission is free for all ages.  All proceeds from food sales benefit the NCFFA. Info:
