SCORE - Conducting Your Business....Virtually

Online using Zoom

Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM EST

No Charge for this Event.

How might you bring the qualities and connection of live in-person sessions to Zoom?
You can help your participants enjoy the new world of teaching!  Achieving this requires creative touches, outside the box thinking, smart camera angles, appropriate lighting, engaging background and attire.

In this workshop we will cover:
Setting the “stage” of your Zoom class for maximum student viewing engagement.
Manageing how you deliver questions and instruction to help students relax and focus.
Vocal technique.  What do you sound like?  Modulating vocal dynamics like a good storyteller will keep participants listening intently.
Look at students.  Yes, you can!  Manage your equipment to let students know you are there for THEM, not a gallery of participants.
Your slides: how to avoid the dreaded, snooze inducing white and blue Powerpoint slides.

Although this workshop is free, registration is required. You'll received a link to the Zoom meeting upon registration.

Bark: Get to Know Your Trees

Tin Mountain

Bark: Get to Know Your Trees

Thursday, January 28, 7pm

The traits typically used to describe trees—leaves, twigs, and buds—are often hard to see or seasonally absent. Join naturalist and author Michael Wojtech for an exploration of bark, a tree component that is always visible, regardless of the season. Participants will hone their perceptive abilities, learn a system for identifying tree species by their bark, and discover why such a variety of bark characteristics exist. Why do some species have smooth bark, while on others it is thick and broken? Why does bark peel? We will take a closer look in this in-depth program.

Note, this program will not be recorded or available afterwards.
