Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council
The Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council is a business resource center. Our mission is to improve and diversify the economic vitality of the Valley. Our resource center partners include Rural Development, SCORE, and School to Career.
History Founded in 1990, the Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council (MWVEC) was created to address a clear need for long range economic planning for the region. Conceived as a public/private partnership the Council identified the need to go beyond town borders and create a larger, more regional identity. The 12 valley towns which were selected to make up the Council include: Albany, Bartlett, Chatham, Conway, Eaton, Freedom, Jackson, Madison, Ossipee, Tamworth, Brownfield and Fryeburg, ME. Overall, the MWVEC has learned that our organization is unique. We continuously find ourselves looking for prototypes, upon which we can model our next steps, only to find that we are breaking new ground. Our next evolution will be the most difficult, as we face the need to provide greater specific benefit to the region through real diversification. This next phase will take more time and will require that we ensure harmonious development with our natural resources and current retail and recreational environment.
The Mount Washington Valley Technology Village The MWVEC Technology Village Business Center is a facility that incubates small high-tech businesses. The center provides resources and support services such as a receptionist, phone system, office equipment (fax and copier) and high speed internet connection in a cost-effective environment. Preview of The Technology Village The Mount Washington Valley Economic Council has embarked upon a project to develop an 80-acre land parcel in Conway, New Hampshire as a Technology Village, a multipurpose facility aimed at stimulating business growth of technology-intensive businesses here.
