General Information:

The Wildberry Inn is an 1877 salt box cape with three guest rooms, one of which is a stand-alone suite in a small, renovated barn adjacent to the main house and brick patio joining the two buildings. The suite, our most popular accommodation, is a two-story cottage featuring a wall of windows that looks out on the brook and pond in the backyard. On summer nights guests leave the windows open and are lulled to sleep by the waterfall a few yards from the upstairs master bedroom. The suite ground floor is appointed with a woodstove, satellite television, a small refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee maker and a dining/living room area appointed with a pop-up bed and comfortable furnishings.

The two rooms in the main house were renovated to expose some of the original architectural features -- hand hewn spruce beams joined with wooden pegs, for example. The rooms in the Inn are appointed with one queen bed each (the larger of the two rooms also has a built-in bed), private bathrooms, in-room coffee and tea service, and VCR/TV sets. Over 300 movies on video tape are available at no extra charge for guests' viewing pleasure. Guests are also welcome in the main house living room where the home theater is available for satellite television or video viewing.

A legend-worthy breakfast featuring fresh-baked muffins loaded with wild berries picked on the property prepares guests for a day of touring, cycling, mountain biking, hiking or canoeing. The magnificent Androscoggin River is a few hundred yards down the North Road, the Appalachian Trail cuts through the back yard, and two brooks bound the Inn's seven acres of woods and short walking trails.

The Inn sits on the south side of Route 2 is just 3.5 miles (five minutes) east of the center of downtown Gorham where many good restaurants (including Libby's Bistro which serves up world-class fine dining) offer a variety of dinner menus. Nightly activities include movie theaters (20 minutes), Tuesday concerts in the Park, evening programs at the AMC Base Camp (18 minutes) or Northern Forest Heritage Park (18 minutes), concerts at New England Chapel Arts, watching the sun set on Reflection Pond, taking a Moose Tour, or kicking back on the patio and enjoying conversation and a cooling beverage in the deepening twilight.

Directions:

From North Conway: Take 302 west to Glen, Route 16 North to Gorham, and Route 2 East toward Shelburne. The Inn is on the right hand side of Route 2 about 3.3 miles from the intersection of Routes 2 and 16 in Gorham.

From the Boston area: Take I-93 north to exit 35 just North of Franconia Notch. Follow Route 3 into Twin Mountain; go straight through the traffic light staying on Route 3. Take a right onto Route 115, which intersects Route 3 a little more than a mile beyond the traffic light. Follow 115 to its end and take a right onto Route 2 East. In Gorham, take a right at the traffic light (still Route 2 East) and proceed just about exactly five miles. The Inn will be on your right across from the intersection with the North Road.
