Community Celebrations Committee  offers “Spirit of the Holidays” events line up for 2016

North Conway, NH - North Conway’s Community Celebrations Committee has announced this year’s lineup of “Spirit of the Holidays” events that will start the weekend after Thanksgiving and continue through the first Saturday of December.  These events are produced by volunteers and supported with Community Celebrations donations provided by the business community.

At 4 pm Saturday, Nov. 26 a “Spirit of the Holiday” Parade in North Conway Village will begin at Depot Road and end at the south entrance of Norcross Circle. The parade will include community floats and walkers who have completed entries to be in the parade. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize and Santa’s Village tickets will be awarded to children’s category entries.  Santa will depart the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort in a horse drawn sleigh, join in the parade then proceed to Schouler Park to light the Christmas tree there at 4:45 p.m.

The feeling of an “Old Fashioned Christmas” continues at 5 p.m. while Santa leads the way down Main Street from Schouler Park to Eastern Slope Inn for the lighting of the Inn’s traditionally decorated tree.  Followers are then entertained with stories read by Santa at the historic Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse, home of Arts in Motion Theater Company. Cookies and Hot Chocolate will be served.

On Saturday, December 3, children can have their photos taken with Santa at Conway’s Northway Bank on West Main St. from 1-3:30 pm.  Santa will proceed down Main St. in Conway around 4 pm and arrive  to preside over the Conway Village tree lighting at 4: 15 pm at the Conway information booth at the corner of Main and West Main Streets.  There will be free hot chocolate at the tree; caroling will be led by DaCapo, an entertaining local choral group that performs Broadway and Contemporary Commercial music throughout the Mt. Washington Valley.

At the conclusion of the tree lighting ceremony, Santa and the DaCapo choral group will lead the way to Ham Arena for free cookies and a free "Holiday Classics on Ice" show presented by the Mount Washington Valley Skating Club at 5:15 that will include performances by children, adults and the Ice Velvets synchronized skating team. The show will be followed by free skating for all from 6:30-7 pm at the arena. Pizza and refreshments will be available for purchase at the Ham Arena.

On December 31, a Fireworks display will commence at 9:00 PM at Schouler Park to ring in the New Year.
