SPECIALSA complete dance school located in Fryeburg, ME. offering ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, lyrical jazz, hip-hop and pointe'. General Information:Founder and Artistic Director: Tina Titzer ~~~ Tina Titzer is originally from Louisiana where she studied ballet, tap and jazz as a child. Her true love became classical ballet and she joined her first ballet company, Acadia Classical Ballet in 1978. She then moved to California and was accepted into the Central Valley Dance Co. where she became a principal dancer. She also studied and performed with The Oakland Ballet. With a gypsy soul she then moved to Florida to further her education and joined The Florida Gulf Coast Ballet Co. under the direction of Ms. Beatrice DeParis. She also studied with The Tampa Ballet on a regular basis. Tina has performed in many ballet productions such as The Nutcracker, Coppelia, Cinderella, and Les Sylphides. Seventeen years ago Tina came to visit her sister in Fryeburg, Me. and never left. She opened her dance school, Tina Titzer's School of Dance in 1991. From that school came the incredibly talented Act One Dance Company. Tina is married to Figure Skater Vitaliy Opekan, Champion of Moscow, Russia and National Medalist of the USSR. Together they perform whenever their schedules allow. Tina Titzer's School of Dance is also home to Act One Dance Company. Members of this company perform several times a year and also attend competitions and workshops. There are 18 members of the company divided into three divisions, Senior I, Senior II, and our Junior Company. Please visit our website at: www.actonedancecompany.org. Act One Dance Company is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit performing dance company dedicated to providing dance education and performance opportunities to youth in the Greater Fryeburg, Me. and Mt. Washington Valley area. Our goal is to foster artistic expression, build confidence, and promote personal growth in our students. We share our accomplishments through regular public performances and participation in regional and national competitions; attending and participating in cultural events deepens our aesthetic awareness. Our long-term goal is to build a permanent home, complete with a stage for the company. Within that space, we would welcome other groups or individuals, involved with the arts & movement, to offer lessons and practice their skills.
