Tin Mountain Conservation Center in Albany.

Join Tin Mountain Conservation Center at 7pm on Tuesday, June 5th for the following program:

The Southern Connection: How North Carolina Helped Save New Hampshire’s Forests

What do a doctor from the Midwest, a forester from Germany, and a congressman from the South have to do with saving New England’s forests from destruction in the early 1900s? How did they help prevent these cherished woodlands from disappearing? This unlikely trio from the Blue Ridge Mountains helped protect the White Mountains—even though they never set foot there. Join historian James G. Lewis, author of The Forest Service and The Greatest Good, for a talk about the South’s conservation connection to the White Mountains.

MSMT Presents: I Love A Piano

Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center

Maine State Music Theatre presents "I Love A Piano" at 7:30 pm at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center. "I Love A Piano" is the celebration of the music and lyrics of Irving Berlin. It follows the journey of a piano as it moves in and out of American lives from the turn of the century to the present. Along the way, the story comes to vibrant life with over sixty of Irving Berlin's most beloved songs, including classics such as 'Blue Skies,' 'There's No Business Like Show Business,' 'Puttin' on the Ritz,' 'Cheek to Cheek,' 'Anything You Can Do,'  and, of course, 'I Love a Piano.' Alternately heartbreaking and hilarious, rousing and reflective, "I Love A Piano" is a fitting tribute to the man Jerome Kern famously said had 'no place in American music - he is American music.'

$35-Standard, $55-Premium (includes access to a pre-show reception). Order online at www.fryeburgacademy.org/pac, or call the box office at 207-935-9232. Located at 18 Bradley St. in Fryeburg, Maine.

Cold River Radio Show

Theater in the Wood, Intervale, NH

Cold River Radio Show
Sunday, June 10 at 7pm
Theater in the Wood, Intervale, NH

We will be at the June Cold River Radio Show selling books in the lobby for Howard Frank Mosher's final book Points North. We are also selling tickets all week here at the bookstore. Tickets are $20.

True to his unique style, Mosher leaves us with lyrical prose from a man who missed nothing in nature, and was unafraid to confront the more challenging questions of what it means to be human. Points North is both humorous and heartbreaking, and, without a wasted word, immerses the reader in Kingdom County, a sliver of America where cold waters harbor brook trout, small communities fight tooth and nail to maintain their signature individualism, and explorations of family history sometimes lead to unsettling revelations.
